Languages Now events

The Languages Now series of events are aimed at Yr9 pupils and are hosted every year by a different NWULA partner.

The most recent event is summarised below.

Languages Now at Lancaster University

In December 2007, Lancaster University welcomed around 400 pupils from 20 schools across the North West!

Throughout the day these pupils learnt all about the value and the real application of languages.

They took part in a series of useful and fun activities, such as

  • conversation with native speakers
  • language tasters in new subjects
  • creative sessions illustrating the benefits of languages

... and much more!

Teachers' Comments:

"An excellent day in all, most pupils have commented on being more positive and confident about languages."

"Very well organised, our pupils loved the Chinese session. Feixia was brilliant with them."

"Excellent way of raising aspirations both for HE and MFL. MFL staff in schools are under a lot of pressure and need as much help as they can get. This type of event is important."
