The IPS is based on face to face interviews with a sample of passengers travelling via the principal airports, sea routes and the Channel Tunnel. The data can help identify visitors to the region who may speak languages other than English, which can help in planning communication strategies.
The top countries of origin of visitors to the North West (excluding countries where English is the main official language e.g. USA, Canada) are Germany, France and Spain.
